SWARM INTELLIGENCE AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT
Abstract
Swarm intelligence, one of the nature inspired computing technique, is the study of computational systems inspired by the collective intelligence emerging through the cooperation of large numbers of homogeneous agents in the environment. Examples include schools of fish, flocks of birds, and colonies of ants. Ant colony optimization and Particle swarm optimization are two popular optimization techniques based on swarm intelligence. These optimization techniques are more effective, when compared to conventional methods, in solving complex problems from different domains. This paper aims to study how ant colony optimization and swarm optimization are important in business domain especially in finance.
